Police have powers relating to searching places (including searching public places and private places, such as dwellings), vehicles and persons. Some search powers are warrantless, that is, as long as police comply with conditions articulated in the legislation there is nothing further required. Others require the police to have a warrant. Attached to these powers is the power to seize certain items.
